I am a Fashion Merchandising Management major, and over the summer, or during the school year I would like to do an internship for a magazine or something that has to do with fashion. Does anyone have anything that could be of help if you found an internship in the past or something? Thanks!
If I were you, I'd go for a fashion house. If you are looking into merchandising management, you'd probably be more interested in the sales aspect rather than organizing events (magazines tend to do more PR work). You're very lucky to live New York as almost all fashion houses have an office there. If I were you, I'd look up your favourite fashion houses (givenchy, dior, chloé, gucci; whatever) on google, and you can usually contact them via their website about internships.
Look up the number or web site for the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). It's a very prestigious college in Manhattan and they might have a programs which you can get an internship through depending on your level of education. Also, look on various web sites of fashion magazines based out of NYC (there are tons of them) and they accept interns most of the time - as long as you're in it for a credit or something.
Good luck!
