I'm interested in attending a college that focuses on these subjects but I'm not sure which 1 to major in. I would like to eventually one day own a major clothing enterprise and I was wondering which degree would be most beneficial towards my goal.

Fashion design involves actually designing clothing and accessories. It's art.
Fashion merchandising management involves the business side of the fashion business. It's not the art; it's the business.
Which do you want to do. Do you want to design clothing, or run some element of the business? If design, pick the design major. If not design, pick the other major.
