Can i get a job in fashion management field?

0 ความคิดเห็น

There are fashion manager jobs.

1. Are you willing to go where needed to find a job in the field?

2. Do you have any experence, training or special skills?

3. Do you know people working in the field?

Like most jobs, you need to be able to answer yes to these questions.

Fashion design or business management?

0 ความคิดเห็น

I am interested in the field of fashion design and I want to study it in my higher studies so that I can take it up as my career. But my parents say that it does not have much scope. They want me to study business management which according to them will expose me to much more greater scope. Is it true? Please suggest me what to do?

Well, my parents say the same thing about business management. It does get you further with higher paying jobs and really you can connect that with your fashion design, that is if you have your mind set on that. Business management you can be pretty much anything that evolves running a business or running in a business. I plan to be a secretary myself. I did want to be a hair stylist, lawyer, or an artist, but my parents ended up talking me out of any of those. You just do what you want to do, don't let your parents decide your future for you. I mean after all it is YOU that is going to live it. Do what you think you will enjoy most. Or if you can't decide, then take both lol. You could take one online or both online and it doesn't cost as much as an actual public college itself.

Really, if you want my opinion, that's a tough decision. They are both very good and your parents are correct about business management covering a lot more "territory". Wait, how about this..you could go ahead and take business management first because fashion designing is part of business and that would actually help better yourself in succeeding in it. Then later you could take fashion design and both your parents and yourself will be happy.

Good Luck and I hope everything turns out great for you and your future.

ok, look at it this way. if you study fashion, you are pretty much stuck in fashion, and fashion related things. so what if none of them work out? your screwed and have to go back to school for something else

business managment can mean literally any business out there that is managable. so it could be fashion, could be resturants, hotels, shopping malls, the list goes on and on and on. so if managing one thing doesnt work out you can much more easily transition into managing something else

If your gay fashion design if your not then business

that is not true. I think you should be a fashion designer.

For fashion,Columbia College or The School of the Art Institute of Chicago?

0 ความคิดเห็น

I want to either be a Fashion Designer, Personal Stylist/Shopper, Fashion Journalists, Style for Print Media/Photography, Costuming for Film, TV, or Entertainment, or Fashion Special Event planning.

At Columbia I would double major in Apparel/Fashion Management and Fashion Design, and at the Art Institute I would major just in Fashion Design.

Any insight would help!!!

I would suggest looking at each of the school's prominent artists and examining their styles. Just looking at the kinds of programs offered and the sort of students and works produced by the school and comparing that to your own interests may give you more insight into which school would be best for you.

the school of the art institute by far. the facilities were updated just a few years ago. i go there and have friends in both departments at both schools and hear better things by far about saic http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20081112150354AApnVOa&kid=OJooP1rKKU4_4hUOLfw0&s=comm&date=2009-04-23+18%3A43%3A12&.crumb=

I recently delcared Business Management as my major with a minor in Fashion Merchandising?

0 ความคิดเห็น

What door could you see opening for me in the future?

Fashion Merchandiser

Alternate Titles: Merchandiser, Apparel Merchandiser

Job Description: Fashion merchandisers on the apparel production side track and analyze market trends, production costs, and previous sales numbers to determine the product direction that the manufacturers will take each season. If high rise jeans are going to become the next big thing, a fashion merchandiser needs to be one of the first in the industry to spot the trend. Fashion merchandising professionals on the retail side are responsible for tracking consumer trends and the latest styles to determine store inventory and to price clothes. In addition to arranging the receiving and storage of apparel, retail merchandisers supervise the creation of visual displays and the overall appearance of the store. They may also be responsible for tracking profits and losses. Merchandisers are some of the most powerful employees within an apparel company, and they have large bottom-line and personnel management responsibilities.

Salary Range: $50,000 to $100,000+

Experienced salary may range from $50,000 to over $80,000

Top level salary can easily go over $100,000+

Outlook: Every apparel maker needs at least one fashion merchandiser. As a result, there are a number of merchandiser positions open, but the qualifications required to excel in this position cast a narrow net among prospective applicants. Those who have the business acumen and good fashion judgment to achieve and maintain profitability in their sector could advance high up the executive ladder.

Qualifications:

Education - Many technical and trade schools offer 2-year associate's degrees in fashion merchandising with courses in consumer research, fashion CAD (computer aided design),fashion history and culture, and business skills. An associate's degree can often lead to an entry-level assistant merchandising position. For a more advanced position, a 4-year bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Design, Apparel Production, or Marketing is preferable. An MBA (Masters in Business Administration) is a plus, as is participation in some executive training programs.

Experience - between 5-10 years of apparel industry experience is required along with some retail or sales experience. Fashion merchandisers may start out as retail management trainees and work their way up to fashion buyer or merchandising assistant positions. Merchandising job opportunities exist in fashion salons, fashion consulting firms, department stores, specialty shops and boutiques, fashion magazines, and import/export firms, among others.

Personal Characteristics and Skills - extensive knowledge of the apparel industry and trends; highly analytical with strong math skills; ability to predict and create fashion trends; ability to combine information from market sales and production data with fashion forecasts and translate into smart product-line decisions; decisive; ability to work with other executives;well-organized; detail oriented; calm under pressure.

Career Path: Fashion Buyer > Merchandising Assistant > Merchandiser > Merchandising Director

What grad program for an aspiring fashion buyer?

0 ความคิดเห็น

I plan to get a bachelors in business and I want to go to the Fashion Institute of Technology for grad school but I'm not sure what program I can take to assist me in becoming a fashion buyer. Would global fashion management be a good match?

If you want to go to FIT, then your only option for a Master's in a field related to buying is Global Fashion Management. Unless you're also interested in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing and Management. I just got my BFA there and I know for a fact that it is a requirement that you work a minimum of 3 years in a fashion field (in a managerial position) before you can even apply and be considered for the Master's Program. Hope this helps!

You could also try Rutgers. They have a strong arts related program, although I'm not sure if they offer your major specifically. They're strong enough in the arts that it's worth checking their website.

Art Management or Fashion Management?

0 ความคิดเห็น

I'm currently a first year student (Foundation year) in an art school in Singapore. I'm having a hard time choosing the course that I want to major in my first year. My top two choices are diploma in Art Management and diploma in Fashion Management. Is there anyone out there who are majoring or have graduated from one of the courses? If yes, tell me more about the course and what can I work as after my graduation.

I thought of going overseas to do my degree or master after taking my diploma. Do you know any good art school or university in UK or US for these two courses that I've mentioned above?

Thank You so much for your reply. Really appreciate it. =)

Fashion Management at LCF?

0 ความคิดเห็น

I'm taking Biology and Chemistry in high school because I wanted to pursue a career in Science but now I want to go into fashion business and it's impossible for me to change my subjects to the preferred subjects of the college so although I will be graduating high school with the hardest set of subjects, I have to take a one year access course to enter the fashion management course at LCF (this course is generally for people without qualifications or mature students - I'm actually a bit pissed off at this but anyway..)

To enter the fashion access course they don't look at your grades they try to see if you're suitable for it and if you show an interest in the business of fashion. I have about 1 and a half years before I apply so what is the best way to show I have an interest in fashion business. I currently run a fashion blog and I'm buying/reselling clothes on eBay (and I'm hoping to expand that) but I need something that stands out. Any ideas?

May be worth posting your question in the fashion section.

can anyone give me ideas

You can find top listing of fashion management college courses in internet - http://ilearn.noneto.com - It also has detailed info about each, tips to apply and which salary should you expect - to comparison.

The Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC should be on your list. Not only is it one of the best fashion business schools in the world, but it's very cheap if you're a NY state resident. Even if you're from out of state, it's cheaper than most private colleges, because it's a public school. It's a SUNY.

FIT is really well respected in the fashion world. I strongly suggest you give it a look.

You will never be a manager straight of school. NEVER. Education is not a substitute for experience in these matters. You will simply have to start at the bottom and work your way up. Your degree will help you advance quicker than someone who does not have one though.

What is the difference between Fashion design and Fashion & Retail management?

0 ความคิดเห็น

a designer designs the acual garmet as the retail and management is very similar to public relations. they would try to promote, sell and even buy the clothing inorder to get the brand out.

Fashion design is where you come up with the ideas for clothes and sketch them out. You need to know how certain fabrics stretch and hang when sewed. You also need to know how to sew and make your own clothes patterns from body measurements.

Fashion & Retail management is more of the business end of things. You learn how to set up a shop, the best way to place things in your shop so they will sell as quickly as possible. When people walk in the store, you want the newer things towards the front to draw them in. You learn to take inventory and how to buy from the new clothing lines that come out every season. You don't want to buy more than you can sell. The more you have to put on clearance, the more money you lose.

Would it be better to attend FIDM or The Art Institute to study Fashion Marketing & Management?

0 ความคิดเห็น

Both schools offer the study.

Please back your answers with facts.

It will be greatly appreciated!

Umm the Art Institutes are total scams! they charge ridiculus amounts for tuition and offer really bad financial aid and no one takes the school seriously because even someone with no artistic talent can get in...as long as you are willing to pay the tuition they'll take you. I would definately go with FIDM because they are better equipped to get you internships and other opportunities to get your foot in the door of the fashion industry and it's a school that devotes its entire purpose to fashion, unlike the AI schools which cover cooking, art, graphics, etc.

How similar are fashion merchandising management and fashion design courses?

I'm interested in attending a college that focuses on these subjects but I'm not sure which 1 to major in. I would like to eventually one day own a major clothing enterprise and I was wondering which degree would be most beneficial towards my goal.

*Please list similarities and differences*

Fashion design involves actually designing clothing and accessories. It's art.

Fashion merchandising management involves the business side of the fashion business. It's not the art; it's the business.

Which do you want to do. Do you want to design clothing, or run some element of the business? If design, pick the design major. If not design, pick the other major.

What can i do with a minor in fashion merchandising and a major in business with an emphasis in management?

can i still get into the fashion industry with a major in business management? because fashion is where i want to be but i want to major in business because i feel i'll have more options.

what exactly does a minor do? do i get a degree or something. i'm not exactly sure of what it does.

will i be able to get a job through the fashion merchandising program? or the business program? or both?

Yeah, you still can get into the fashion industry with a degree in management. Fashion isnt all about runways, models and the latest trends. There is a lot of business going on in the fashion industry and with a minor in fashion and a major business, you have knowledge of pretty much all aspects of the fashion industry.

sounds to me like you could open your own boutique or manage a boutique, probrably even be a buyer. i think you can do whatever you want -minor means you have extended education in that field, more than someone who just took one or two classes, for example. its like a second major. good luck!

What is the difference between Fashion Marketing and Fashion Management?

0 ความคิดเห็น

Which one would you recommend?

The management part of fashion comprises planning, organizing, resourcing, leading or directing, and controlling an organization (a group of one or more people or entities) or effort for the purpose of accomplishing a goal. Resourcing encompasses the deployment and manipulation of human resources, financial resources, technological resources, and natural resources.

--------------------------------------...

The marketing part is an ongoing process of planning and executing the marketing mix (Product, Price, Place, Promotion often referred to as the 4 Ps) for products, services or ideas to create exchange between individuals and organizations.

Marketing tends to be seen as a creative industry, which includes advertising, distribution and selling. It is also concerned with anticipating the customers' future needs and wants, which are often discovered through market research.

Essentially, marketing is the process of creating or directing an organization to be successful in selling a product or service that people not only desire, but are willing to buy.

Therefore good marketing must be able to create a "proposition" or set of benefits for the end customer that delivers value through products or services.

------------------------

If you like to have fun and be creative and do something different almost everyday, choose Fashion Marketing, else choose Fashion Management.

Fashion Institute of Technology covers not only the design, but also the merchandising, marketing and management aspects. It is also considered to be quite good in this field.

Pratt is the one that is more specifically design oriented (including fashion design), and in that field it is very strong.

What does it take to get an internship in retail management?

0 ความคิดเห็น

I'm trying to apply for internships in retail/fashion management, but I keep getting rejected. I've tried applying to some bigger companies and they reject my application withing 24 hours. I have 6 months retail sales experience, 9 months working retail for an inventory company an Associate's Degree in fashion design and I will be getting a Bachelor's in Fashion Merchandising this year with a 3.5 GPA. The problem is, my school requires students to complete an internship in order to graduate, but no place will even interview me and I don't know why they reject me, they just say "though your qualifactions are impressive, we regret to inform you that we can not be encouraging about employment." Even the small companies, I interviewed for an internship and it seemed like it went well she told me if I decide I want to do my internship there to email her, which I did and she never responded. I'm afraid I won't find an internship and won't be able to graduate, what do these places want??

What is the best college for Fashion Magazine Management?

0 ความคิดเห็น

I am a sophmore in college and am looking for a new college since my current school doen't offer fashion magazine management specificly. Do you have any advice on schools. I would prefer to go to school LA or NYC due to high volume of internships available.

I have never heard of ANY school offering a degree in fashion magazine management, and I would hope that no such program exists. It isn't that I have a problem with fashion magazines, but that there are so few of them, and each hires so few managers, that they would be putting out graduates who didn't have any chance at getting a job after a couple of years. What you need is a school with a program in journalism, not fashion magazine management!

Where can I find some Fashion Internships on Long Island or in NYC?

0 ความคิดเห็น

I am a Fashion Merchandising Management major, and over the summer, or during the school year I would like to do an internship for a magazine or something that has to do with fashion. Does anyone have anything that could be of help if you found an internship in the past or something? Thanks!

If I were you, I'd go for a fashion house. If you are looking into merchandising management, you'd probably be more interested in the sales aspect rather than organizing events (magazines tend to do more PR work). You're very lucky to live New York as almost all fashion houses have an office there. If I were you, I'd look up your favourite fashion houses (givenchy, dior, chloé, gucci; whatever) on google, and you can usually contact them via their website about internships.

Look up the number or web site for the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). It's a very prestigious college in Manhattan and they might have a programs which you can get an internship through depending on your level of education. Also, look on various web sites of fashion magazines based out of NYC (there are tons of them) and they accept interns most of the time - as long as you're in it for a credit or something.

Good luck!
