I am interested in the field of fashion design and I want to study it in my higher studies so that I can take it up as my career. But my parents say that it does not have much scope. They want me to study business management which according to them will expose me to much more greater scope. Is it true? Please suggest me what to do?
Well, my parents say the same thing about business management. It does get you further with higher paying jobs and really you can connect that with your fashion design, that is if you have your mind set on that. Business management you can be pretty much anything that evolves running a business or running in a business. I plan to be a secretary myself. I did want to be a hair stylist, lawyer, or an artist, but my parents ended up talking me out of any of those. You just do what you want to do, don't let your parents decide your future for you. I mean after all it is YOU that is going to live it. Do what you think you will enjoy most. Or if you can't decide, then take both lol. You could take one online or both online and it doesn't cost as much as an actual public college itself.
Really, if you want my opinion, that's a tough decision. They are both very good and your parents are correct about business management covering a lot more "territory". Wait, how about this..you could go ahead and take business management first because fashion designing is part of business and that would actually help better yourself in succeeding in it. Then later you could take fashion design and both your parents and yourself will be happy.

ok, look at it this way. if you study fashion, you are pretty much stuck in fashion, and fashion related things. so what if none of them work out? your screwed and have to go back to school for something else
business managment can mean literally any business out there that is managable. so it could be fashion, could be resturants, hotels, shopping malls, the list goes on and on and on. so if managing one thing doesnt work out you can much more easily transition into managing something else

that is not true. I think you should be a fashion designer.
